Texas Auto Insurance Companies Listed by Number of Complaints
In a recent analysis of complaints lodged against insurance groups in 2022 and 2023, several trends and shifts in performance were identified. This data provides a comprehensive overview of the consumer experience across different insurance providers, highlighting the number of complaints confirmed per policy written.
In 2023, the Loya Group ranked 14th with 42 complaints from 297,146 policies, resulting in a complaint rate of 0.01413%. This was a significant increase from 2022, where only 9 complaints were recorded from 281,429 policies, showing a lower complaint rate of 0.00320%. Similarly, the Kemper Corp. Group saw a rise in complaints, with 22 complaints in 2023 compared to 14 in 2022, despite a decrease in policies written.
Home State Insurance Group also experienced an increase, recording 45 complaints in 2023 from 607,697 policies, up from 23 complaints in 2022. Incline Property and Casualty Group, which had 72 complaints in 2023 from 976,066 policies, showed a notable decrease in complaints from 148 in 2022, despite an increase in policies written.
Tesla Inc Group had 5 complaints in 2023 with 77,328 policies, marking its entry into the list, as it had no complaints in 2022. United Services Auto Assn. Group faced a substantial increase in complaints, recording 94 in 2023 compared to 19 in 2022, while the number of policies written remained relatively stable.
Amica Mutual Group and Orpheus Group had a slight increase in complaints, with Amica recording 5 complaints in 2023 up from 3 in 2022, and Orpheus Group recording 20 complaints in 2023 up from 15 in 2022. Conversely, Mercury General Group saw a minimal increase in complaints, with 3 in 2023 compared to 1 in 2022.
Among the top insurers, State Farm Group and Progressive Group maintained a lower complaint rate. State Farm Group recorded 120 complaints in 2023 from 7,330,254 policies, down from 43 complaints in 2022. Progressive Group also showed improvement, with 124 complaints in 2023 from 7,146,121 policies, down from 75 complaints in 2022.
Overall, the total number of complaints in 2023 was 991 from 30,174,884 policies, showing a slight increase in the complaint rate to 0.00328%, compared to 590 complaints from 29,211,825 policies in 2022, which had a complaint rate of 0.00202%. This data underscores the importance of continuous monitoring and improvement in customer service within the insurance industry.
