Largest Commercial Auto Insurers in Texas: How to Read the Market

Texas · Size is premium volume, not a better claim

This page will not rank the largest commercial auto insurers. A personal 30/60/25 policy does not cover a truck hauling for hire, and a certificate does not add that coverage.

Market share is how much premium a company wrote. It moves when fleets grow and when rates change. It is not a claim-paying score, and it is not the limit on your declarations. A personal auto policy insures the cars listed for personal use. An LLC title, deliveries, and employees driving for pay belong on a commercial auto policy. Hired and non-owned auto is the endorsement for employees using their own cars. It is not implied. The personal floor of 30/60/25 is not a job-site limit. A contract that asks for a higher limit is a contract, not a statute.

A filing is not a policy. Where a Form E or an MCS-90 is required, the carrier is certifying liability and agreeing to notify the state or the federal side if it cancels. Not every carrier files. The premium, the filing fee, and any state or court fee are different bills. A certificate of insurance shows what is already on the policy. It does not add an insured and it does not raise a limit unless the policy is endorsed. Collision on the truck is still separate from liability. A lender usually wants it. The state, on a personal car, does not.

The coverage: Texas commercial auto, trucks, and when you need it. A company list is not a rating: commercial auto companies. The piece of paper a job site asks for: certificates of insurance.

Match the contract’s limit with an endorsement, then ask whether that carrier can file it. Ask an agent or get a business quote.
