Liability vs. Full Coverage Car Insurance in Tennessee

Tennessee auto · Liability and full coverage

Full coverage means you also bought coverage for your own car

Liability pays other people when you are at fault, up to the split limits on the policy. It does not repair your car. “Full coverage” is the everyday name for liability plus collision plus comprehensive. It is not a policy form, and it is not a limit.

Confirm Tennessee’s floor on the state page. The minimum changes, and a blog should not lock it. Start at Drive Insured Tennessee. The floor, whatever it is this year, still does not fix your car.

Tennessee car insurance, liability, and full coverage. How much to carry above the floor: how much car insurance.

What you give up when you drop the physical damage

Collision pays your car after a crash, comprehensive after hail, theft, or a deer, both at actual cash value minus the deductible. Dropping them on a paid-off older car can be a real choice. Dropping them on a financed car usually breaks the loan. Liability-only is legal if it meets the state floor. It is not full coverage. Liability only and how limits work.

A discount does not add those coverages. Tennessee discounts.

Read the three names on the declarations page. If collision or comprehensive is missing, the car is not covered. Ask an agent.
